What is a tagua nut?
Tagua nuts are a large seed that grows in Ecuador. When the seed is dried it becomes hard. Very hard indeed. So hard that is now has the nickname ‘vegan ivory’. It is an incredibly strong and resilient material that can be shaped and engraved just like ivory but it is sustainable and cruelty-free. Numbers of elephants in the wild are falling drastically. It is estimated that 100 elephants are killed by poachers each day. We are committed to only using sustainable and cruelty-free products.
Will my item look EXACTLY the same?
Because our tagua nuts are a natural product, each slice is wonderfully unique (just like you!) This means some have more of a grain, some are ever so slightly thicker or thinner. We will never send out a sub-par product, but it may look a little different depending on the tagua slice.
HOW DO YOUR BRACELETS WEAR?
Our bracelets are waterproof, durable and will last you a long time. Our durable, comfortable waxed cord is fade proof and you can wear it wherever your adventures take you without worrying. Wear them in the shower, wear them in the sea, wear them jumping out of a plane (just don’t drop them!!) The tagua nut plaques are very hard wearing, which is why they are known as vegetable ivory! You may notice them change in colour a little over time and age with you. This is because they are a natural product.
What other materials do you use?
Our necklace cords are waxed cotton, so they are comfortable, durable and you wan wear thm wherever you go. Our cufflinks are made using stainless steel, as are our earring posts.
Where is my item made?
All our bracelets and necklaces are made by us at our studio in, Brighton, UK. Most items are handmade to order; designed, created and packaged by us. We also work with artisans in Europe and beyond to provide a deeper, more extensive range.
Does one size fit all?
Our jewellery is made with an adjustable slide knot clasp. This means that it can extend out or shrink down to fit most people most of the time. Please see the individual product page or the size guide below for specific guidance.
For bracelets: If the widest part of your hand is larger than 9cm, please do let us know..
For anklets: If the widest part of your foot is larger than 11cm, please do let us know.
For cufflinks: If your shirt takes a funny size of cufflink, we would suggest buying a new shirt!
