Dream of post-lockdown travel with a coordinates bracelet

Lockdown given you a serious case of wanderlust? We hear you.

After months cooped up at home, it’s only natural to dream of far-flung places and exotic destinations. The advice is to avoid all but essential international travel at the moment. But when the time comes to pack a bag and jet off into the big wide world, it’ll be a treat to savour.

Here we offer a few travel ideas to help you chose your first post-pandemic getaway.

5 travel ideas for after lockdown

  1. Greek Islands

Greece has always been a popular holiday choice amongst Brits. Whitewashed buildings, glorious sunshine, fantastic food – what’s not to love? And from the beautiful beaches and sea views of Crete to the busy historical capital of Athens, there really is something to suit everyone.

That’s why it’s an obvious post-lockdown travel idea. It’s not too far away from home and, compared to other places (e.g. Spain, Italy) that were hit hard by COVID-19, Greece has been relatively unscathed. But if you still wish to stay away from the crowds, our recommendation is the quiet town of Choro in Naxos – with its sleepy promenade and quiet laid-back atmosphere.

2. Maldives

The epitome of ‘paradise’. The Maldives is a place known for its remote beauty, powdery white sand and unrivalled luxury – and, during lockdown, it’s had a significant rise in new bookings for 2021.

Perhaps you’ve had a little longer to save up than usual, and wish to splash out? Maybe your honeymoon was cancelled? Or maybe you just want to relax in the sun after a difficult year? Whatever the reason, these idyllic islands are the perfect option for some post-virus R&R.

3. Lapland

Due to the restrictions, chances are, your summer travel plans have been kyboshed. So, why not plan a winter getaway instead? Experts believe that destinations with wide-open spaces – that allow social distancing – will boom after lockdown. And Finland certainly ticks the right boxes.

Known as the ‘last wilderness of Europe’ – with lakes, mountains, forests aplenty – it offers the perfect balance of seclusion and adventure. One travel idea is to book a glass igloo. It’ll be just you and your partner, surrounded by the snow, with the northern lights overhead. Dreamy.

4. The USA

Next on the wish-list is America. With 50 states to choose from, it’s a melting pot of exciting travel ideas – including everything from surfing in California to shopping in New York City. So why not get yourself over to the big apple and, to make it a memorable trip, grab a few internal flights?

Orlando would also be a fantastic destination. Due to lockdown restrictions, we’ve been forced to stay apart from the people we love the most. But this is a place geared towards large groups. Simply book a luxury villa close to the theme parks and spend some quality time with friends and family.

6. Ecuador

Want to be really adventurous? Why not go completely off the radar in Ecuador?

This isn’t somewhere that people typically consider. But we think it’s a brilliant travel idea, and a fantastic way to celebrate post-lockdown freedom. You can explore the Galapagos Islands and it’s extraordinary wildlife, climb Mount Pichincha, go white water rafting in Baños.

And, of course, it’s home to the magnificent Amazon Rainforest – where our partnered charity, Reserva Youth Land Trust, created the world’s first youth-funded nature reserve.

Indulge your wanderlust with a coordinates bracelet
